Fun facts:

Matcha is made from gyokuro tea leaves. The leaves are kept in the shade two to three weeks before harvesting. This process separates Matcha from other green teas because they are not shaded prior to harvest. This process increases the level of theanine, thus giving Matcha its mild and sweet flavor. After the leaves are steamed and dried, the veins and stems are removed, after which the leaves are ground into a fine powder in a mill.

Steeping Instructions
  • For Hot Tea: Whisk 1/4 teaspoon of Matcha in 2oz under-boiled water (170° F) or add two ice cubes to boiled water (212° F). Add 14oz of boiling water to whisked Matcha. Sweeten to taste. (Makes 2 cups)
  • For Ice Tea: Whisk 1/4 teaspoon of Matcha in 2oz under-boiled water (170° F) or add two ice cubes to boiled water (212° F). Add 6oz of boiling water to whisked Matcha mixture and sweeten to taste. Pour the tea mixture over 16oz of ice cubes. (Makes 2 cups)
  • For Tea Latte: Whisk 1/4 teaspoon for 2oz of milk. Add 14oz of boiling water to Matcha. Sweeten to taste.

    How to make Matcha + Tea blend
    • Hot: Whisk 1/4 teaspoon in 2oz under-boiled water (180° F) or add 2 ice cubes (212° F). Steep tablespoon of loose tea in 14oz of underboiled water. Strain leaves and combine with Matcha. Sweeten to taste.
    • Iced: Whisk 1/4 teaspoon in 2oz under-boiled water (180° F) or add 2 ice cubes (212° F). Steep tablespoon of loose tea in 6oz of underboiled water. Strain leaves and combine with Matcha. Sweeten to taste and pour over 16oz cup of ice cubes,
    • Latte: Whisk 1/4 teaspoon in 2oz milk. Steep tablespoon of loose tea in 14oz of under-boiled water (add 2 ice cubes to fully boiled). Strain leaves and combine with matcha. Sweeten to taste.
